Rocio has completed her second year of the PhD program and all coursework in the PhD program.
Rocio’s research project is focused on evaluating rosemary for ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel disease.
As a part of Rocio’s thesis project has been working on creating unique fractions of rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) to identify the active phytochemicals in rosemary.
Her experiments are also evaluating activation of Nrf2 and AhR with compounds from rosemary as a strategy to improve gastrointestinal barrier integrity.
